Jimmy Choo, the third member of the shoe triumvirate (Jimmy, Manolo & Christian) has joined the others in creating a line for charity.

Choo has partnered with the Elton John AIDS Foundation to support the Simelela Rape Center in South Africa  by donating 25% of all proceeds from his new line to the center.

The iconic collection, dubbed Project PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis), includes handbags, flip flops, sandals, flats, bracelets and accessories. All products feature a collage of signature Jimmy Choo details like snakeskin, leather, grommets, graphic artwork and Choo’s label.

The fun and flirty sandals, featured on the model in the image above, are available at Saks for $975.

The Simelela Rape Center was created to address the physical and emotional needs of rape victims in its South African community. Sexual violence is a huge problem there and Simelela offers hope to women in their darkest hour providing post-exposure prophylaxis for HIV transmission prevention and trauma counseling.

Launched in conjunction with the release of the environmental movie Home, PPR-owned Sergio Rossi has created the Eco Pump from largely recycable and biodegradable materials.

Partnering with a German company specializing in alternative materials and environmentally-sound practices, the heel is somehow made of liquid wood using a high strength “compression process.” The sole uses non chemically processed leather and even the packaging is biodegradable. I think the shoe is simple and elegant enough, but the heel looks very interesting and makes the shoe special.

Sergio Rossi is donating part of the proceeds from these shoes to Goodplanet.org. Founded in 2005, the charity promotes a more environmentally, socially and economically responsible way of living while searching for ‘concrete solutions to the earth’s ecological crisis.’

Legendary (or maybe even life-changing depending on whom you ask) shoe designers, Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik have created two gorgeous sandals to benefit the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation in Thailand.

The shoes can be purchased exclusively from Footcandy on-line.  There seems to be enough stock for the Rihanna-esque, pink zippered, not-at-all-appropriate-for-work  Louboutins. As for the wild leopard pony-hair Manolos, there’s good news and bad. The good is that they are on massive sale; the bad is that there is only a size 10.5 left.

I think Carrie Bradshaw would approve of both. As for the cause, alright, I can see her snickering a little but then I’m sure Samantha would say something witty about designers and their fabulous causes.

Actually, the Golden Triangle Asian Elephant Foundation does quite a bit to rescue elephants that have been abused and create a safe haven for them. Baby elephants are in special need of rescue as they are (unbelievably) cute and so are taken into the big cities to turn a profit for the owner by providing entertainment for people. Unfortunately, the owners realize that the little elephants are too much trouble to care for and abandon them in the city.

South Carolina fashion designer Mary Norton, whose bags and shoes have been picked up by Saks and Harrods, has created this romantic and fun Monroe-Rodeo Rose shoe. 15% of the sales are donated to the Medical University of South Carolina Children’s Hospital.

Made in Italy, the Monroe-Rodeo Rose features pearlized leather and delicate organza roses. Right now, it is only available for pre-order through the website for August delivery.
